Riding Lessons

Although these pictures are of me on another horse other than my beloved Wishes, I wanted to keep a record of the fact that I'm taking riding lessons. It's been at least 25 years since I rode on a regular basis, and I never had any formal instructions back then (just a really well-trained horse). My hope is that over the next 2-3 years I will develop a good seat and good balance as this will directly affect my relationship with Wishes once she's old enough to ride. So Wishes, this is for you! I hope you appreciate it. Ha ha ha. P.S. These photographs were taken by my dear friend, Eric. The horse's name is Steel.

Jenny On A Horse

Today I had my first riding lesson. I rode a sweet Shiloh horse named Calypso. She was very gentle and patient with me. I had so much fun, and I'm looking forward to taking a lesson each Saturday for the next several months.

It was a very warm June day, and Rachel and I did our best to stay hydrated. I turned Wishes out with her usual crew, and then I gave her her "2nd ever" bath. She's getting more used to having water sprayed on her, but the second she got back into her stall, she lied down in the dirt and rolled and rolled! Thanks a lot, Wishes. I don't have any pics from today, but I will post the 3 pics Eric sent me last week.

Eric has been such a great help to me, and always offers to turn Wishes out with Gus when I can't make it out to Shiloh. He's so wonderful about taking pictures and videos, and sending them to me so I can post them here. Thanks again, Eric!
